DOUGLAS ANIMAL WELFARE GROUP WELCOMES YOU
Bettering the lives of Douglas County Animals
At Douglas Animal Welfare Group we’re raising funds and promoting initiatives to serve the people and animals who need them most. We believe in taking action with urgency in order to raise public awareness about some of the most pressing issues facing today’s society. Please join us by supporting our efforts to make a measurable difference in the lives of Douglas County animals.
Thanks to everyone who voted DAWG the Best Non-Profit and Best Service Organization.

Help DAWG keep our canines (and their dedicated dog-walker volunteers) safe from sun, rain or snow – contribute to the “Made in the Shade” campaign!
Outdoor time is an invaluable stress reliever for shelter dogs. The Douglas County Animal Services shelter has three fenced exercise yards where pups can chase balls, frolic in kiddie pools, and sniff the ground in search of strange scents to their heart’s delight.
Each area has a shade structure meant to protect volunteers, visitors and dogs from the desert sun, rain and snow – and each structure needs replacement.
Their wooden posts are showing signs of deterioration, hastened no doubt by the number of dogs who lift their legs on the posts.
The roofs of two of the structures are tilting to the point that taller volunteers and visitors have hit their heads. The shade structure in the largest yard was placed in such a way that people must stand outside it during certain times of the day to be in the shade.
DAWG is launching the “Made in the Shade” campaign to raise $43,000 to replace the three shade structures. All will be made with dog-resistant materials.
Contributions may be made online or by sending a check to DAWG, PO Box 1850, Gardnerville NV 89410 (be sure to write “Made in the Shade” on your check.)
All donations are appreciated; those donating $1,000 or more will be listed on a donor recognition plaque.
Let’s work together so our shelter dogs, volunteers and visitors are “Made in the Shade”!

Thank you Jackson & Whitaker and volunteers for a successful event raising more than $2600 for the Cat Cottage campaign.
