Are you ready to become a foster parent?

DAWG is always in need of both short and long term foster homes. Not only does fostering maximize the number of animals rescued, it allows us to provide care for animals who would be difficult to care for in a shelter environment (orphaned kittens or puppies, animals recovering from illness or injury, special needs and senior pets), pets needing a break from the shelter environment, and yes, even hospice care.

The Douglas County Animal Shelter consistently operates at FULL CAPACITY

 Homeless animals come into our shelter year-round

 The shelter environment is stressful & traumatic for many animals

 When you foster, it makes room for the next animal in need

 Fostering provides a safe, loving home until a permanent home is found

 You will be matched with a dog or cat based on what works for your household

 We provide guidance, supplies, & health management—you provide TLC!
